Making it to the NFL is tough, especially coming from the NAIA. But Flanagan isn't going to use his past as an excuse.
He spent last year at Eastern Nike Zoom Training Oregon, but didn't like the direction the program was headed and sought another change. He admits he misses the big crowds of big time college football. But he finally feels at home.
"About three weeks after I had that original contact with him, he was here at the campus of the University of Sioux Falls," DeBoer said.
"Hopefully it works out," Flanagan said. "As long as I get a chance is the best thing I could ask for.
USF's football team has had a long history of success. And in the case of new senior offensive lineman Shawn Flanagan, the program's reputation almost recruited itself.
