In the late 1970s Beaver Brae became the sole high school in Kenora. The Lakewood songs were recently altered appropriately and 'the torch' passed to Beaver Brae High School at a real time Bronco football practice session on their home turf. That field Nike Lebron Soldier 10 Id
honour for me to sit at the piano and play the songs with him as we all sang along in the Lakewood auditorium and at the Saturday night banquet.
For me, it was a truly memorable experience.
Even though there were some impressive changes in Kenora itself, it was nice to see some things have not changed. The chip truck, the Grace Anne, the MS Kenora, Coney Island, and other landmarks that served to fuel rekindled memories.
On Aug. 27, I attended the reunion of the Lakewood High School Mustangs football team (1967 1969), an event that was over a year in the planning.

Football reunion a memorable weekend
I visited old haunts (my alma mater), watched our cheerleading squad workout (they still look great and had all the moves), rekindled old friendships and relived old feelings in a fun filled two days of nostalgia.
The most powerful aspects for me were the many conversations with old team and school mates. It was as though time had not passed. There were several friends who could only be remembered in our thoughts and prayers a poignant reminder that life is fleeting and every moment is to be lived to the fullest and cherished.
What was significant during those years was an unprecedented win loss record together with a regional championship and successive victories over the best teams that Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba high school football had to offer. Those were our halcyon days of teen life marked with pep rallies, games well attended by enthusiastic fans, and punctuated by the boisterous singing of the Lakewood High School and Lakewood fight songs at all our events, not just football.

Together with his family, Ernie Brose, Lakewood's 'Music Man' attended the reunion as the guest of honour. Brose wrote the Lakewood High School and school fight songs in the mid 1940s and they played a big part in fueling school spirit at so many events over the decades.
