Among vocational subjects re introduced to the town is engineering. Ms Stravino said: "We spoke with employers across the area and realised that engineering is a skill that is very much in demand, just like construction, care and access to nursing."
"The new campus will continue to be vocationally focused, ensuring that young people have the employability skills they need to get a job and progress their careers.
Meanwhile, the new library, refectory, construction and engineering areas, with built in vacuum cleaners to clean up debris, are awaiting the students, who have been undertaking work placement this week while waiting for the campus to be finished.
The college has room left for expansion on the site and will take on more staff, if needed, later in the year.
An open evening will be held at the new campus on Thursday, February 27, between 5.30pm and 8pm with details about all the courses and tours of the site for prospective students, their families and the local community.

Employers in the area have become involved at the college through the Erewash Partnership and also with the establishment of an employer advisory board, set up to bring together employers in specific disciplines. This allows the college to liaise with people who have particular requirements for their employees, allows them to work with schools and generally expand careers Nike Zoom Men's Running Shoe guidance.
