The Stars won two section titles and advanced to the state tournament in 2002 and 2004. Holy Angels placed third in 2004 Class 3A tournament.
One of the most successful boys basketball coaches at the Richfeld based Academy of Holy Angels is returning for another stint.
"I try to keep things as simple as possible for our players," said Foley. "We will play the style of basketball that fits our players' abilities and skill levels."
As for Foley's preferred style of play, he believes in adjusting to the type of players that he will coach.
Foley's playoff coaching record was 16 6, a winning percentage of 73. The Richfield resident was named section coach of the year in 2001 and 2002. The Stars were academic section champions in 2002.

Foley starred as a guard for Holy Angels during his playing career. The Stars finished the regular season with a 20 0 record during his junior year.

Foley replaces Larry McKenzie who resigned from the Stars' head coaching position at the conclusion of this past season. Foley will continue in his full time role as director of marketing and admissions at Holy Angels.

Foley attended Augsburg College after high school graduation and was team captain as a senior.

Following college, Foley played and coached professionally in Denmark for one season before returning to AHA in 1996 as an assistant to former coach Gary Rufsvold. Foley became head coach in 1999.
Jesse Foley has been hired to be the Stars' new head boys basketball coach. The 1989 Holy Angels graduate/basketball standout returns to the bench after eight years away from high school coaching.
Foley's Stars teams posted five winning records during his six year tenure from 1999 to 2005. Holy Angels won the Missota Conference title in 2002 and played in four section championships under Foley's guidance.
Foley coached many gifted athletes during his previous coaching tenure at Holy Angels. He coached such outstanding student athletes as Larry Fitzgerald (University of Pittsburgh football/Arizona Cardinals), Andy Hannan (UNLV), John Stocco (Wisconsin football), Stephen King (Ohio University) and Jason Boerboom (Air Force Academy).
