Bruce and Gustafson accomplished what they set out to after seizing first place with the big catch of the tournament on Friday; a catch of 20.69 lb including a 5.68 lb. largemouth to propel the team from 13th position on Thursday to first place with a total two day weight of 36.69 lbs. On Saturday, the team added 14.47 lbs. to the tally for a three day total weigh of 51.16 lbs.
Kenora Jamie Bruce and Bryan Gustafson from Fort Frances are this year winners of the 27th annual Kenora Bass International fishing tournament. It was the first KBI win for the team, which had competed in the tournament for the past six years.

Third place was claimed by Jay Samsal of Nike Kyrie 1 All Red
KBI with a catch of 11.23 lbs that gave them a total 45.19 lbs.
Kenora and Troy Norman of Fort Frances with a three day total of 49.72 lbs. The team cracked the top 10 on the final day of the tournament with a catch of 18.64 lbs which put them on the hot seat for the start of the Top 10 boat parade. They endured the anxiety of holding onto the lead throughout the boat parade until the final four teams from Friday weighed in and Oliver GIbbons and Jason Gibbons weighed in their catch of 17.50 lbs.

We were fishing for five pounders and that what we caught. noted perseverance and sticking with largemouth proved to be a successful strategy in claiming the tournament trophy and the $23,375 first place prize. and then we caught the big one, Gustafson related. knew we were in the right place and we just stuck with it, getting the five pounders makes all the difference. said the win was also vindication after losing the Fort France pro bass tournament by 1.5 ounces to friendly rival Jeff Gustafson and his partner for that tournament, John Peterson.
Oliver Gibbons and Jason Gibbons from Sleeman, Ontario, who led the tournament on Day 1 this year and fell to fourth on Friday, moved up a couple of places in the final standings to finish the tournament in second place with a total weight of 50.66 lbs.
The final day fishing on Lake of the Woods was not kind to the Kenora team of Jeff Gustafson and Chris Savage, who dropped from second place to 19th on the final day of the Nike Metcon Online
