Fact: Virginia, which went 7 8 in 2013 and missed the postseason, is 6 1 after a loss to Cornell on Saturday.
Opinion: What's old is now new. Disco is back. The three programs that dominated the 1970s are back on top of the standings. Maryland hasn't won a title since 1975, and Cornell hasn't hoisted the gold trophy since 1977. Hopkins hasn't been to championship weekend since 2008.
fans are upset. I'd be shocked if the NCAA sells more than 30,000 tickets at those prices.
It's been a long winter. We're still trying to thaw out, and a third of the college lacrosse season is over already.
Opinion: Pulverizing Princeton to begin the month was a positive step, but Hopkins must make its case against Top 10 level competition. The Blue Jays' hopes against the Orange hinge on face off domination.
Opinion: NCAA at large bids are no longer within reach, but their goals remain intact. No time to panic. Just win enough conference games to get into the league tournament and run the two game table to secure an automatic qualifier. The NCAA tournament field consists of 10 AQs and eight at large selections.
Opinion: The highly competitive in conference schedule has already taken its toll Syracuse is 0 2 in the ACC. Notre Dame, Duke and the Orange have two losses already. And now Hopkins gets a shot at Syracuse, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. Can five ACC schools earn at large bids?
Opinion: The Terps are playing nasty defense, but without offensive improvement, I will be surprised if they capture the NCAA title. They've been heavily reliant on three players Mike Chanenchuk ripping the net from the outside, Charlie Raffa winning face offs and Niko Amato in goal but they're not quite yet a team that appears to be built on offense to win two games in three days on Memorial Day weekend. The outstanding freshman class must continue to improve.
Fiction in College Lacrosse
Hopkins is a combined 4 9 against Syracuse, Maryland and North Carolina since 2010, and that's who is up next.
Based on 14 games, Thompson comes up short of the record Nike Lebron Xiii Black Lion for points in a season (118 by UMBC's Steve Marohl in 1992). But if Thompson plays in 18, he is on par to score 131 points, smashing the record. Albany is at Hopkins on April 4.
Opinion: Liam O'Connor (67 percent) is a bull, and Nick Ossello is 8 for 10 in relief. But poor shot selection and location have cost the Irish two Nike Lebron Id
Here's my take on what we've seen as we head toward the midpoint.
Fact: Of the 67 Division I teams, only three are undefeated: Maryland, Cornell (5 0) and Johns Hopkins.
Fact: Notre Dame (2 2) is the best face off team in the country.
Fact: Tickets for NCAA Championship Weekend at M Bank Stadium in Baltimore are on sale. Prices start at $79 per seat and go as high as $350. Parking passes are in the $50 range.
My guess is that every D I team in the country will have two losses by NCAA tournament Selection Sunday in May.

Fact: Maryland is ranked No. 1 and undefeated at 5 0.
Opinion: The Great Danes are scheduled to play 14 games and will reasonably play 18 with two in the America East tournament, an NCAA play in game and perhaps an NCAA first round game.
Fact: Towson (5 2) is receiving, while UMBC (3 2) and Navy (3 3) are outside the Top 20.
Albany is ranked No. 1 in assists per game but No. 57 in scoring defense. The Great Danes refuse to play slow down lacrosse. It's a thing of beauty to watch the Thompson trio zing the ball around the backyard. In this era of overcoaching, it's refreshing and rare to see coach Scott Marr play to his team's strengths by letting players run free and take chances.
Opinion: Gouging fans hurts attendance. From the feedback I've received, Nike Metcon Tr 1 For Sale
With the parity that rapid growth has brought to Division I lacrosse, it's no longer easy to say which programs have the best chance to be playing for the national title under the warm May sun. In fact, only three teams in the nation have yet to lose a game.
games. Better offensive efficiency and generating quality shots can put Notre Dame back into the mix.
Opinion: Under coach Shawn Nadelen, Towson has shown toughness and can challenge for Nike Metcon Repper Dsx
the Colonial Athletic Association title. The Tigers host UMBC on Saturday. The Retrievers looked very good for three quarters against Hopkins last weekend with Pat Young standing out. They must deal with Albany in the America East.
Opinion: James Pannell and Mark Cockerton form a super righty lefty one two punch at attack. But until the Cavaliers start making saves with regularity, beating top notch opponents won't be easy.
Fact: Johns Hopkins is 5 0 and hosts Syracuse on Saturday.
Fact: Albany (2 2) is averaging 17 goals per game, the most in the nation. Lyle Thompson is scoring a mind boggling 7.3 points per game.
Fact: Teams such as St. John's (2 3), Bucknell (2 4), Villanova (1 3) and Ohio State (1 4) are off to slow starts.
Fact: Since 2002, the six current Atlantic Coast Conference schools have accounted for nine of 12 NCAA titles. All were ranked in the Top 10 when the season began.
