Sheerer lived in Edina, giving him a good sense of what the community wanted and was able to balance those needs, Police Chief Jeff Long said.
Long began working full time as a police officer the same year Sheerer became a full time firefighter in 1989. When he became police chief, Sheerer was great to have as a sounding board because he'd been there and faced the same issues as fire chief, Long said. The fire and police chief face the same challenges of budgeting, managing staff and facing public perception, and Sheerer was great Nike Lebron Soldier 9 Ohio State to have as a resource, he said.
