Like a blood glucose test, it would only require a drop of blood.
As well as being a weapon on the front line in the battle against cancer, the world first new technique has the potential to help lead to further discoveries.
Mr Campbell said: "Relatively little is known about cancers and their causes.
The equipment was invented by Jonathan O'Halloran, who developed the system in his garage.
Forensic scientists in Derbyshire are testing cancer screening technology that could help save millions of lives
Mr Campbell said the method uses incredibly tiny filaments, known as nanowires, to produce a structure that acts like a sieve on a molecular level which can filter out only the parts of DNA scientists are interested in.

"There could be one in every hospital in the country, if not the world."
"Most of the world's inventions originate here in the UK, it's just that we've not always been that good at commercialising things."In its other projects, SureScreen Diagnostics' is also involved in developing technology to enable the police to test drivers suspected of being under the influence of drugs.
to blow into a breathalyser or when results might be skewed by the presence of vomit.
DNA profiling for those at risk of cancer costs about to carry out and so is generally only offered to those NHS patients who have a family history of cancer and are therefore likely to be at risk.
"In four or five years' time, I expect that it will be in use because I can't see any major barriers to its introduction."
Currently, tumour samples are sent away to labs, which can take weeks to produce results.
It is hoped that SureScreen's analysis will provide the scientific proof that the technology works before it is put into use around the world.

Mr Campbell said: "This is a two year project and after that it will be commercialised and I can see a huge market.
is also preparing kits that test blood alcohol levels instantaneously without a breathalyser.
To fund the experiments, the company has received a grant from the Technology Strategy Board.
Early and accurate diagnosis of those affected or people in high risk groups dramatically increases the chances of survival.
He said initial trials have shown that it is just as good as conventional techniques but far cheaper and faster.
Forensic scientist Jim Campbell is the man behind the trials that will give the final go ahead for the ground breaking test. He is head of SureScreen Diagnostics, which has bases at Prime Parkway, off Alfreton Road, Derby, and Morley.
"This technology is likely to lead to more research and a much better understanding of the processes that cause cells to fail."
Mr O'Halloran has long associations with SureScreen Diagnostics, having worked jointly to create a novel biopsy probe.
The probe freezes cancerous tissue while in the body so that when it is cut out, the DNA is better preserved and the risk of spreading defective cells around the body during surgery is drastically reduced.
Mr Campbell said: "This is a wonderful example of British ingenuity.
The technique would allow identification of cancerous cells within minutes, instead of several weeks. It would also save thousands of pounds per patient and bring DNA testing for cancer to the masses.
Every year, 12.7 million people worldwide are diagnosed with cancer.
It will be Nike Lebron Collection used to screen thousands of people quickly and cheaply, leading to more early diagnoses and to identify those whose genes suggest they are at serious risk of cancer.
Named Q CANCER, the innovative technique is designed to break up a tissue sample, extract the relevant bit of DNA and give medical professionals the information they need to fight the disease.
